Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Wish you could live on the Internet? Well in this novel, the main character spends most of his time in a virtual reality instead of his dingy home with his careless aunt. The story revolves around a contest that involves finding an "easter egg" in a video game created by a deceased designer. The winner gets the entire fortune the rich man left behind.

2. Prey by Michael Crichton

Prey by Michael Crichton You may not have heard of this book, but you've definitely heard of Critchton's other novel, Jurassic Park. This author certainly wasn't a one hit wonder, because Prey is equally as amazing. The story is all about the dangers of creating artificial life. Although it sounds like a cliche topic, you've never read anything like it.

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Ready Player One is hands down the best Sci-Fi Book I've read this decade!!!

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury scared me silly when I first read it as a teenager when first published. It's about a special firemen force that tracks down anyone with books which they then burn. Terrifying to think what would we do without printed matter ! Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is also a futuristic book written in the 60's about selection of humans from babies to alphas or betas etc in a new world. Creepy !

Asimov put out a a few collections of a sci-fi short stories. They're a good place to start if you want to begin with something small. One of his stories was about the human race coming into contact with a race of aliens who communicate via smell, and the humans had to use dogs as interpreters. Very trippy but also heartwarming and funny.

I used to read sci-fi as a kid and I love it so I'm very grateful for these recommendations. Thanks Holly

Etiquette &Espionage; and The Lunar Chronicles. though theyre not classics, there amazing

Interesting reads thanks

Oh and Double Identity

Ray Bradbury will always be the king. His prose sounds like poetry and the images in his stories are incredibly beautiful. Beryl, if you loved Fahrenheit try to get one of his books with short stories, you are going to love them.
