1. Beauty Sick: How the Cultural Obsession with Appearance Hurts Girls and Women by Renee Engeln
This non-fictional gem shows how damaging a woman's quest toward beauty can be. It does not condemn women who choose to wear makeup or who enjoy beauty; however, it does make the point that feeling beautiful shouldn't be something that commandeers women's time and it also shouldn't make them feel stress or anxiety. This book is perfect for any girl who would like to reevaluate what it means to be beautiful in the year 2018 or to reexamine her relationship with her appearance.

4. Beautiful Boy: a Father's Journey through His Son's Addiction
The title describes the content of the book pretty well but does not begin to describe the heavy emotions you will have when reading this book. It is not a new novel, but a film adaption of it will come out this year, starring Steve Carrel and Timothee Chalamet.

5. The Goldfinch by Donna Tarte
One more book for film lovers. While this film won't come out until 2019, it's a long read so you better start now before the film, starring Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman, comes out. Though it is quite long, this Pulitzer Prize winning book is well worth the read.
