Mystery novels are amazing, because they let you play the role of a detective. You get to try to solve a case at the same time that the character you're reading about is trying to solve a case. You feel like you're right there with them, because you're finding new clues at the same time as they are. That's why you should read some of these amazing (free!) mystery novels:

1 3 Lies by Helen Hanson
Beth is not only suffering from a kidney failure, but she's also the victim of a kidnapping. The novel focuses on the love of her life, Clint, as he struggles to find her before her kidneys kill her or she is hurt by her kidnapper. If you enjoy this novel, you're in luck, because there's a sequel that continues on with the same characters.
2 An Unremembered Grave by Abigail Padgett
This story revolves around a historian who was born with a mysterious tattoo, a prisoner who unearths a vampire's grave, and the aforementioned vampire who has been asleep for a century and a half. It's a combination that you don't see very often, which is what makes the novel so unique. There's no way you've ever read anything like it before.
3 Not Quite Dead by Lyla Payne
What could be worse than finding out your childhood best friend has married the love of your life? Well, Graciela Harper finds out when she travels back to her hometown and has to deal with her grandfather's poor health and her own drinking problems. To top it all off, she ends up coming across a ghost from the 18th century, which is where the real story begins.
4 The Last Safe Place by Ninie Hammon
If you love mystery novels with fantasy thrown into them, then you're going to love this one. It's about a woman who writes a novel about a demon, and then the demon ends up climbing out of the page to kidnap and murder her son.
5 Louisiana Longshot by Jana DeLeon
This novel is about a CIA agent who has to pretend to be a former beauty queen. While in disguise, her dog ends up digging up bones from a dead body. That sets off an entirely new investigation where she must figure out what secrets the town she's placed in has to hide.
6 Hazordous Duty by Christy Baritt
This novel is about a young woman who drops out of college. Instead of completing her forensic science degree, she decides to start a crime scene cleaning business. While on the job, she discovers a weapon that the police ended up missing in their investigation, which causes her to solve the case on her own.
7 Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon
Maryse Robicheaux can't stand her mother-in-law, so she's quite relieved when the woman dies. However, her death ends up being the beginning of her problems, not the end of them. If you're not a fan of reading, then this book is available with audible narration as well, so you can use your ears instead of your eyes.
Mystery novels are a great way for us to feel like detectives, and there's nothing more exciting than that! What's the best mystery novel that you've ever had the pleasure to read?
