1. The Fault in Our Stars

To be honest, I haven't read this book yet, but I know we all need to read it. Every single person I know that has read this book has recommended it. The book is currently being made into a movie and if you're like me you'll want to read it before the movie comes out. The book is tragically sad and does deal with cancer patients, so if you don't think this is for you - skip it. However, if you can handle a book like this then this is definitely one of the books you need to read.

2. Divergent

This book is like an obsession! It follows the trend of trilogies that deal with dystopian societies and it's done amazingly! Seriously, once this book was done, I went online and ordered the second book right away. This series follows a teenage girl that has to make a decision that will change her life and then realizes that she is different, which means in danger. She tries to keep under the radar but can't, and now must try to save her life and the lives of those around her.

3. Running with Scissors

This is a super awesome memoir style book! Augusten Burroughs is an author that has written a lot of books that are real stories about his life. He has lived a really interesting life and this book in particular is about the time he spent living with his mother's psychiatrist. He talks about his life living there, the people he met, and the little time that he spent with his mother in that time period.

4. Gone Girl

I just finished this book and couldn't put it down towards the end. The ending leaves you staring at the page completely dumbfounded. This is a book about a woman who appears to have gone missing and her husband's attempts to find her, but we also get the other side of the story by getting an insight to her side of things. The book has a lot of twists and turns and will leave you wanting more.

5. Firefly Lane

This is an amazing book about best friends. It doesn't sugar coat things to say that friendship is perfect, easy, or anything like that. It lets you know that friendship is hard, it takes work, and it might not always seem worth it. They deal with friendship falling apart and coming back together. If you have a best friend, you might cry by the end of the book. I know I did!

6. The Harry Potter Series

I can't write anything about books without including this series. I've tried and then I feel guilty and I can't do it. A lot of people claim that this series is the series that got them into reading and if that doesn't imply great writing, stories, and characters, I don't know what will. Let these books take you into a world of magic that will stay with you forever.

7. Alice in Wonderland

Ok, so this one isn't a book that everybody reads and loves. Yes, it's a classic, but when it comes down to it a lot of people don't like the movies, let alone the book! The reason this had to be put on the list is because even though a lot of people don't like it, I really love it and wish more people would take the time to read it. It's not the same as any of the movies (there are a lot of versions) so more people should give it a chance.

There are so many books out there and I think that everyone needs to read as many of them as they can get their hands on! Whether you agree with this list or not, that's ok, just get out there and read! What books here have you read? What do you want to read? What would you suggest?
