Being immersed in an engrossing book series is living in a fictitious world miles from your everyday without the withdrawal you get from reading a singular book. There is no need to suffer last page syndrome when there are many fabulous series to lose yourself in – book series you need commitment and passion for.
1 Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett
An epic and at times hilarious fantasy adventure series that spans over a whopping forty-one books! Buy at: amazon.com
2 Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
If you are a fan of the TV series, then you should definitely check out the full set of Outlander novels, giving you time travel and romance in abundance!
If you are one of the few people who haven’t read Harry Potter, you need to fix that problem immediately; the books are so much better than the movies!
For literature a little more on the ‘serious’ side, Marcel Proust provides over 3000 pages worth of in depth life experience of a man whose name you never learn.
If you have a thirst for modern adventure with a swashbuckling hero, meet Dirk Pitt; a man of action with a nose for trouble and a reputation for solving problems. 23 books and counting.
15 Montana Mavericks Series by Debra Salonen (and Others)
This series is a cheesy romance saga with different stories all set in Whitehorn, Montana. It’s not classic literature, but it’s easy reading and it’s kind of fun!
If you are in the mood for some serious nostalgia, then what better than to pick up a few great novel from the Baby-Sitters Club series that was so, so popular in the 80s and 90s.
Get your literary fill of the most famous spy in the world, starting with the originals by Fleming and leading into the more modern interpretations by several different writers.
RE_9988 I'm just finishing up an amazing series by Miranda Kenndaly, the Hundred Oak series! It is about teen romance but I love it!
GJP Some to try. Thanks.
Madhuri The Eragon Inheritance series by Christopher Paloni is on top of my list after Harry Potter.
Dani Lord Of The Rings. Those require a lot of commitment. I highly recommend them, though. I'm not a huge fantasy person, but they are some of my favorites.
shanianawaz i like action adventure so I would recommend the Sharpe books by Bernard Cornwell or any of the series by Clive Cussler, like Dirk Pitt.
Lilah The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind definitely takes commitment! It's a pretty good fantasy world akin to Lord of the Rings. Kind of. Worth the read :)
Neecey @Lilah, Did you watch the TV adaption too? (Legend of the Seeker) It was sad they never finished it.
Trisa Another fantastic series is the divergent series by Veronica Roth
Siren Another series that takes some committment is The Women of the Otherworld Series by Kelley Armstrong. There is 13 books and a few books with collections of short stories as well.
Sabrina What about "the name of the wind" series. Amazing book and a definite must read
Taylor Yes, Nancy Drew!
Lisa A Hangman's Daughter Tale So far there are five books in the series. They are set in medieval times.
TorriWyatt @neecey, if you enjoy fantasy/sword and sorcery and enjoy a light and often funny break from reality give one book a try. Pratchet is basically poking fun at the whole genre, and you won't appreciate the in jokes unless you have read a fair amount.
Neecey @TorriWyatt, thanks. I'll give them a try.
Aniesha A song of ice and fire?
Cathleen The Necroscope series and the Riftwar saga/Empire trilogy which are interlinked
TorriWyatt Terry Pratchet! Awesome series poking fun at traditional fantasy, you just gotta laugh at Rincewind lol
Neecey @TorriWyatt, I keep umming and ahhing over the Discworld series. Is it worth reading?
Shannen you missed the hunger games series 👍
Neecey @Shannen Harmon, as it's only three books it doesn't really fit the criteria for this article. I read them in a weekend!
