1 Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
This was the book that I began reading hours after the clock struck midnight on New Years, and I finished it a few hours later. It completely put me in the right mindset to conquer 2016 in a completely new way than I had ever approached a new year before. If you need to change up your life but don’t know where to start, start with reading this book by TV and movie writing mogul, Shonda Rhimes.
2 The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
This is a book that I read after New Years a few years ago. It is perfect for the person who wants to make a lot of little changes in their life to be just a little happier. It’s amazing how all of these little changes can add to make you a completely different person, and it’s a really interesting read.
3 The Power of Habit: Why We do What We do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg
During the New Year, when we’re all trying to break bad habits or gain new habits, this is a great book to read. It’s amazing just how much habits can make or break us, and this book examines that. This book examines habits, how to change them, and how we can pick up better habits that help us rather than hurt us!
4 The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up by Marie Kondo
I’ve never read this book myself, but I feel like that’s only a matter of time. I’m constantly hearing about how great this book is. I’ve heard about it from people I know, strangers I meet in bookstores, and even just random people on my Twitter feed. Everyone loves this book, and when we’re all trying to de-clutter into the New Year, this is a great book to pick up and read.
5 Brave Enough by Cheryl Strayed
Cheryl Strayed is known for her bestselling book-turned-movie, Wild. This is a book of quotes from her different published work that will encourage you, teach you, and even just make you laugh. If you need some daily wisdom or inspiration, you really can’t go wrong with purchasing this book and reading it whenever you need a quick pick-me-up!
6 The Productivity Project by Chris Bailey
I don’t know about anyone else, but in the New Year I’m trying to be more productive. I feel like that’s a fairly common resolution, but maybe I’m alone on it. This book goes deep into examining why we are and aren’t productive, and how we can be more productive—tested and experimented by the author himself. This book is on my list to read, and I feel like it’s going to be life changing!
7 The Index Card by Helaine Olen and Harold Pollack
If you’re someone who’s trying to sort your finances out in 2017—whether you’re trying to save money for a house or you just need to learn about finances, this book will teach you everything and make you feel so much less overwhelmed. It’s really not that terrifying, and this book will teach you that, among so many other finance rules.
