The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson You HAVE to read this book. I cannot recommend this enough - this is top on my list of underrated books because it is just beautiful. Make sure you look for the copy of this book that looks like a journal - it has sweet hand-written style notes written on a range of different things, which is just lovely. This book is about Lennie Walker, who is 17 years old and trying to find her way in life after her sister dies. If you check out any book on this list, make sure it’s 'The Sky Is Everywhere.'

All My Friends Are Superheroes by Andrew Kaufman

All My Friends Are Superheroes by Andrew Kaufman This is a book you can read easily in one sitting, and one that will leave you smiling. While reading this book, you are introduced to a range of different superheroes, though not superheroes like you would normally expect - these superheroes have seemingly mundane and normal powers. For example, The Perfectionist, whose power is quite simply doing everything perfectly. This is a seriously quirky and lovely novel that you just have to read!

Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma Wistful metaphors and dreamy language intertwine in this gorgeous book to create a seriously amazing story. 'Imaginary Girls' is about a young girl called Chloe who lives her life in the shadow of her bright, rebellious sister Ruby. When Chloe is sent away, however, everything changes and suddenly she has to find her own way in the world. This story will really inspire you, and is a truly beautiful read. I bet you’ll love it!

Pink by Lili Wilkinson

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson The topics explored in this young adult novel are quite confronting, as ‘Wintergirls’ is about an 18-year-old girl called Lia, who suffers from anorexia. That being said, it is written in such a way that is very accessible and easy-to-read. Lia discovers that her best friend, Cassie, has passed away, and this topic is dealt with in a unique and heart-wrenching way. You’ll definitely learn something from this book, and it certainly worth a look.

Lisey’s Story by Stephen King

Lisey’s Story by Stephen King If you love a good psychological thriller, ‘Lisey’s Story’ by Stephen King will be right up your alley! This is the scariest book I have ever read in my life, hands down. It is creepy and sinister, telling the story of Lisey, the wife of a deceased, famous author. As the story progresses, more and more terrifying things occur and the lines between real and imaginary start to blur. This book is certainly not for the faint hearted!

Twig by Elizabeth Orton Jones

Twig by Elizabeth Orton Jones If you’re looking for an easy, quick read, you have to check out ‘Twig’ by Elizabeth Orton Jones. Okay, so technically it’s a children’s book, but I guarantee anyone of any age will smile reading this! After I read ‘Twig’ for the first time, I lent it to my grandma and she loved it! It’s about a young girl who lives in an apartment, but creates her own world in the backyard behind her house. This book will have you smiling from start to finish!

winter girls is so triggering. read with caution

Great list, there some books here that I'm totally running to the library to read. I also liked how it had a variety of genres.

Imaginary Girls and Winter Girls are REALLY good!

Loved the list! I personally would have included a clockwork orange it's a very interesting book with a thought provoking message one of my favorites!

LAURIE HALSE ANDERSON is a great author. I've read her books "Fever 1793" and "Speak" they were both so intensely vividly descriptive, I felt as though I was the one experiencing it. "winter girls" is next on my list. Thanks for the recommendation!

I read the Sky is everywhere over and over I can't get enough of it !!!!!!!!!
