One of the best reasons to read “Divergent” is that it is a page turner. I love books that keep you interested. The action does not stop. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else will happen that keeps the story going. It does not disappoint.

“Divergent” has so many twists and turns that your mind will be swirling to keep up but in a very good way. There were times I actually laid the book down for a minute so that I could think about all of the action and how it fit together. It keeps you guessing as to what the connections will be between characters and events in the story. I love books that give you a surprise that you didn’t see coming. “Divergent” delivers this more than once.

I love a book that you don’t want to put down. And it had been a long while since I had read one that good. “Divergent” was a can’t put down read for me. I read it in less than two days. I just didn’t want the story to end because it was really that good. As soon as I finished it, I immediately went out and bought the next book in the series.

This story draws you in. You find yourself thinking about it even when you are not reading it. I wondered what the characters would do next and how they would handle situations that came their way. “Divergent” makes you feel like you are almost a part of the story, which is something I love to find in a book. I felt very much a part of the story.

I loved this fact about this book. It makes you think about yourself and examine your personality to see where you would really fit in the story. “Divergent” is about five factions, or groups, that each expound upon a certain personality trait. Characters in the story were advised to go into the faction built upon the personality trait they were strongest in or that they valued the most. One thing I loved that goes along with this is that there is a quiz in the back of the book that tells you what faction or factions that you would be best suited for. It was very interesting, to say the least.

I would not call “Divergent” a romance novel. But it does have an element of romance in it, which was the icing on the cake for me. It was so fun to sit back and observe it developing slowly and wonder if it was ever going to take off or what it was going to take to get it really going. It was not the entire story but it was one element of it that I appreciated. The author handled this developing romance perfectly.

There are some villains in this story, to be sure. Some of them are absolutely terrible and make you almost shudder to read about. But the main characters are very likable. They know how to tug at your heartstrings, too. You find yourself rooting for them and hoping that things work out for them.
