Crack Open a Thrilling Post-Apocalyptic Novel over the Winter Break ...

When you have nothing left to read, there are plenty of post-apocalyptic novels out there that will give you all of the excitement you need. Most of us have already read The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Maze Runner, but there are even more great post-apocalyptic novels to read that you'll end up loving. Here are a few of the best ones around:

1 The Stand by Stephen King

The Stand by Stephen KingIf you've never read Stephen King before, it's about time to pick up one of his novels. If you're already a fan of his, then you won't need to be convinced to flip through this novel. It's about a man who escapes from a testing facility and spreads a disease that kills thousands of people. It's one of the best post-apocalyptic novels on the market, so if you're interested in the subject, don't pass by this book.

2 World War Z by Max Brooks

World War Z by Max BrooksIf you're a zombie fan, you need to read World War Z. It's a bit different from the movie, so even if you've seen the film, you can still enjoy the novel. It's about a man who travels the world, getting testimonies of other men, women, and children about the horrors they have faced.

3 A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, JR

If you're looking for something different, fresh, or just plain bizarre, you'll want to take a look at this novel. It has a heavy focus on religion but is surprisingly funny. It's definitely unlike anything you've ever read before, so if you're sick of the same old story lines, this one's for you.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie RyanThe main character in this novel lives in a village that is surrounded by a fence that no one is allowed to go past. Of course, soon enough the fence is breached and the village learns all about the secrets that have been hidden from them. The main character has to decide whether she wants to remain in the place she's lived her whole life or if she wants to discover the rest of the world.
