Writen and illustrated by the great Maurice Sendak and published in 1963, Where the Wild Things Are tells the story of mischievous Max who was sent to his room after wreaking havoc in the household. What happened inside his room is a magical journey that earned him the title as "King of the Wild". Make this as one of the stories to read to your kids not only at bedtime but during the time of the day when they are hyperactive.

Among all books I listed in this post, I am working on mastering this one because my kids are one year old and I am trying to prepare myself on how to potty train them. Once Upon a Potty by Alona Frankel introduces the parts of the child's body in the beginning as a prelude to the entire potty training process.

5 Good Night Moon

Published in 1947, Margaret Wise Brown wrote Good Night Moon as a bedtime story featuring a child saying "good night" to everything around him. It's a very easy read that can even be memorized by a child if read every night. My three-year-old nephew Timothy is so good at this, we just let him recite the story and then he goes to sleep.

6 Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?

A book for toddlers by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle that teaches colors and meanings, this book is a smooth read that I started reading to my twins when they were only one month old. Their eyes grow so big when they saw the colored animals. I am thinking of making huge, stick puppets soon so their eyes will grow bigger in wonder
.

7 Are You My Mother?

P.D. Eastman wrote a story of discovery with a baby bird as the main character. Mother Bird left the nest to look for food and the egg hatches. Baby Bird walks around and approaches all sorts of animals and asks them the question: "Are you my mother?" It's an exciting book for toddlers as Baby Bird takes on a journey to find Mommy.

What do you think of these books? Any more children book suggestions that I can read to my twins?
