Even if you prefer reading hardcover books so you can turn the pages with your own two hands, you have to admit that ebooks are incredibly convenient. When you own a Kindle, you can carry an entire library around with you in your pocketbook. If you're a proud owner of a Kindle, here are a few secrets that will make reading more fun:
1. You Can Share Segments
You probably already know that you can select text and highlight it, so that it's easy for you to find later on. However, did you know that you can actually share those pieces of text on Facebook and Twitter? All you have to do is choose "share" instead of "highlight." You can even choose "search" instead in order to translate the word into any language that you'd like.
2. You Can Download Free Books
You can read books on your Kindle without actually paying a dime. All you have to do is search for public domain books that are free to the public. You can check out amazon.com to look through all of those free books.
3. Take Screenshots
The Kindle has similar functions to your phone. If you own a Kindle Voyage or Paperwhite, all you have to do is press down on two opposite corners of the screen, and then it'll take a screenshot of what you've been looking at. Meanwhile, if you own a Kindle Touch, you can hold down the home button while you tap the screen. Last but not least, if you have the original Kindle, you should hold alt, shift, and G at the same time.
4. You Can Lend Books
If you want to share your ebooks with your friends, then you might be able to do so. Certain books are capable of being lent out once for a two week period. In order to try it out, you should head to Amazon.com/mycd, select the title of the book you want to lend out, click on the ellipses, and then select "loan this title."
5. Fast Forward through Pages
If you want to flip through pages quickly, you can actually fast forward through them. To do this, you should press and hold ALT and the "next page" button. If you want to go backwards, hold ALT and the "previous page" button. Then you'll find the page you want faster than usual.
6. Get Magazines and Newspapers ASAP
You can actually subscribe to newspapers and magazines on your Kindle. Why would you do that instead of getting them sent to your house? Well, if you get them delivered to your Kindle, you'll end up getting them before they end up in stores. That means that you'll know the news before anybody else does.
7. Convert Files
If you want to convert files that you have to make them compatible with your Kindle, you should send them to "name"@free.kindle.com" as an attachment. If you do that, then the files will be converted for you and emailed to you. After that, you can transfer those documents to your Kindle, so that you can read them whenever you have some free time on your hands.
