Don't Quit: a poem by anonymous
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must but don't quit.
Life is strange with its twist and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a fair and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you're the hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
How many times have you said to yourself that you give up, but actually, you don't? You just said it out of frustration, anger, and all those emotions you're feeling. When you're in that moment, it's when you just break down. When you do your best and it's not enough. When you're down and low and you have no one or nowhere to go. When your heart only wishes for someone to listen, but no one hears, not even a pat on a shoulder. It's hard when you know you don't need that much, but just a little care and it would be enough, but there's no one there but you. And you're not even sure if the people around you care a thing about you. Be good to yourself, even if you don't feel like it. You don't see it, there is no way of knowing you're on the right track or not, you just keep going, there's no arrow pointing you in the right way to go. Sometimes in life, you are your own company, your own buddy, your own best friend, and when you do, you'll get back up, slowly but surely. You are amazing! You know it in your heart and you know it your gut. Just hang in there and keep going. Chances are you're going through something like I do, just a different version. You're awesome. Take heart and don't quit.
